Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last Updated: September 13, 2026

We want you to understand what you are purchasing before you buy. Please review the applicable offer page and this policy before completing a purchase.

1. Digital Products and Self-Guided Experiences

Unless otherwise stated on the applicable sales page or required by law, purchases of downloadable materials, digital products, and self-guided experiences are final once access has been provided.

This includes offerings such as The Second Sentence and other immediately accessible digital experiences.

Because these products provide immediate access to proprietary digital content, we generally do not provide refunds because a purchaser:

  • changed their mind;
  • did not complete the material;
  • did not use the product;
  • no longer has time to participate; or
  • expected a different personal outcome.

Please review the offer description carefully before purchasing.

2. Duplicate or Erroneous Charges

If you believe you were charged more than once for the same purchase or there is a billing error, contact us promptly.

Verified duplicate or erroneous charges will be corrected as appropriate.

3. Technical Access Issues

If you cannot access a digital product you purchased, contact us so we can attempt to resolve the issue.

A technical issue that we can reasonably correct does not automatically qualify a purchase for a refund.

If we are unable to provide the purchased digital product due to a problem within our control, we will determine an appropriate remedy, which may include restored access, replacement delivery, or a refund where appropriate.

4. The Making Room Membership

The Making Room is a recurring membership.

You may cancel your membership according to the cancellation process provided in your account or membership instructions.

Cancellation stops future renewal charges after the effective cancellation date. It does not ordinarily refund membership fees already paid for a current or prior billing period.

You will generally retain access through the end of the period for which you have already paid unless otherwise stated or access is terminated for serious violation of our Terms or Membership Terms.

Please review the Membership Terms for complete details.

5. Annual Memberships

If an annual membership option is offered, the applicable enrollment page will disclose its billing and cancellation terms before purchase.

Canceling an annual membership prevents the next annual renewal but does not ordinarily result in a prorated refund for unused months unless required by law or expressly stated in the applicable offer.

6. Live Programs, Intensives, Retreats, and Events

Live programs, private services, cohorts, intensives, retreats, and events may have separate cancellation, transfer, deposit, and refund terms because capacity may be limited and expenses may be incurred in advance.

Any offer-specific refund or cancellation terms disclosed before purchase will govern that offering.

7. Payment Plans

A payment plan is a method of paying the total purchase price over time unless expressly described as a cancellable subscription.

Stopping participation in a fixed-price program does not automatically cancel remaining installment obligations.

The applicable offer and checkout terms will identify whether a payment arrangement is a payment plan or recurring subscription.

8. Promotional Pricing

Refunds, when legally required or expressly approved, are based on the amount actually paid rather than the standard retail value of the offering.

9. Chargebacks

If you believe there is a billing problem, please contact us first so we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve it.

Nothing in this provision limits any lawful rights you may have through your payment provider.

10. Exceptions Required by Law

Nothing in this Policy limits refund, cancellation, or consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

Where applicable law provides mandatory cancellation or refund rights, those rights will apply.

11. How to Request Help
